- National Voters Day - 25th Jan.
- 10th PM Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee's father and mother both named krishna - Mrs. Krishna Devi & Mr. Krishna Bihari Vajpayee.
- He was the only MP to be elected from 4 states viz. UP, MP, Gujarat and Delhi (Loksabha 9 times and Rajyasabha 2 times).
- EVM (Eletronic Voting Machine) was first used in 1998s Assembly elections.
- An EVM can cater a maximum of 64 candidates (in multiples of 16 each) & can record a maximum of 3840 votes.

- The longest serving cabinet minister till date is Sardar Swaran Singh who served 6 ministries from 1952-75. A Swaran Singh Committee was made by Indira Gandhi in 1976 to suggest changes to be made in the Constitution.This led to the 42nd Amendment of 1976-77.
- Janta Party's govt. in 1977 passed the 43rd and 44th Amendment to restore the status quo.
- The Supreme Court in 1980 declared most of the 42nd Amendment unconventional because of the minerva mills case.
- The first major communist victory in India was in 1957s elections in Kerala, when E.M.S. Namboodiripad became the Chief Minister.
- C.N. Annadurai of DMK wanted Tamil Nadu as a separate nation but he dropped his demand after 1962s Sino-Indian war.
- Constitution wanted English only to be valid in India till 1965 but it could not happen.
- Of all the Presidents, only Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad and Mr. Pranab Mukherjee are alive in 2014.

- Total political parties in India - 6 National, 47 State and 1308 registered unrecognized parties.
- The only non-gandhian PM of congress who completed 5 years was Mr. P.V. Narsimha Rao, knew 13 languages.
